Authorities burned off evaporating vinyl chloride after a train with several cars carrying the substance, derailed in East Palestine, Ohio last week. Burning the vinyl chloride results in phosgene (a WWI chemical weapon) and hydrogen chloride. Residents were evacuated from the local area but residents are reporting sick and dead animals outside of the evacuated zone.
