As Arizona Secretary of State, Katie Hobbs requested the removal of election-related tweets from Twitter through a third party, the Center for Internet Security (CIS). CIS forwarded the requests to Twitter and even mentioned they were from the AZ Secretary of State. Twitter removed the flagged material within seven hours.

Analyst Comment: Some have tried to claim Katie Hobbs flagged inappropriate content through Twitter’s content reporting system as a private citizen. This is completely false. Hobbs did not use Twitter’s public content reporting system, and used her office of Secretary of State to get offending content removed. An open question is why Hobb’s went through CIS to report the tweets and not contact Twitter directly.
