The East Coast of the US is in danger of diesel shortages and rationing amid limited supply and growing demand as freight and air travel ramp up.

Analyst Comment: Diesel, gas and jet fuel all compete for use of crude oil. As air travel ramps up, prices across all oil-derivative products will continue to increase. With no end in sight to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, more EU crude oil sanctions in the works, and worsening relations with Saudi Arabia and OPEC, don’t expect prices to come down anytime soon. Eventually decreasing economic activity should bring prices down, but that could be several months away.
