Arkansas has announced emergency rules in response to an outbreak of avian influenza. The rule, which is in effect from 23 March to 20 July, prohibits exhibits, movement, sales, trades, barters and auctions of poultry within affected areas. The rule also requires all domestic, free-range, and backyard poultry be kept under a roof or in a structure to help prevent infection from wild fowl.
